The Magisterial District Courts are the initial level court of Pennsylvania's Unified Judicial System. Rostraver Township uses two magisterial district courts for township matters. Magisterial District Courts' jurisdiction includes: summary offenses; violations of township ordinance cases; landlord tenant actions; civil claims, expect those involving title to real property or a claim against a Commonwealth party, of $8,000.00 and under; issuing arrest, bench, and search warrants; setting bail; conducting arraignments; and presiding over preliminary hearings. Magisterial district judges also administer oaths and affirmations, take acknowledgments, solemnize marriages, and preside over emergency protection from abuse matters. The Rostraver Township delinquent garbage is handled by Magistrate Christner's office.
